Troubleshooting

Fixes for common problems

What to do when an app asks you to update, a sign-in code doesn’t come, a page is missing, or emails don’t arrive.

“Please update”

When a version of an app is too old to work with Vessel, it stops and asks you to update. Your data is safe.

  • Vessel Worship shows Please update Vessel Worship. Tap Open the App Store (or Open TestFlight) and install the update.
  • Vessel Ministry shows Update Vessel Ministry. Tap Open the App Store.
  • Vessel Check-Ins shows Please update Vessel Check-Ins. Update it, then open it again. Check-ins already on the station are safe and upload once it’s updated.
  • Sermon Writer on a computer shows Please update. Choose Get the newest version. Your sermons are safe.

A gentler banner, like A new version of Vessel Worship is available, means an update is ready but you can keep going for now.

No sign-in code, or the code doesn’t work

The email didn’t come

  • Check your spam or junk folder for an email from Vessel.
  • Check you typed the email your church has for you. Choose Use a different email to try again.
  • Wait a minute. You can ask for a new code after 60 seconds with Resend code.

“That code didn’t work”

The code was mistyped, or it has run out. Use the code from the latest email from Vessel, or ask for a new one.

“Please wait … seconds before trying again”

You’ve asked for codes too quickly. Wait for the time shown, then try again.

Added a password? You can choose Use a password instead. See Add a password.

“Your email isn’t set up for Vessel yet”

You signed in, but Vessel couldn’t find a church for you. Ask your church admin to give you staff access or make you a group leader, using the email you signed in with. Then try again.

  • Sign in with an email code first: the first time you connect to a church, you need an emailed code, not a password.
  • Your church needs to finish setting up your sign-in: more than one person at your church uses this email. Ask your admin to set your sign-in email.
  • You no longer have access to …: your role at that church changed. If that’s a mistake, ask your admin.

You can’t see a page

Each person sees only what their role allows. If you see You don’t have access to this, or a message like People is for church staff, ask an owner or admin to check your role and permissions in Church settings › Staff & roles.

  • People and Forms are for owners, admins and staff.
  • Group leaders see their own groups without a staff role.
  • Giving needs the Giving permission, for everyone but owners.
  • Church settings pages are for owners and admins.

See what each role can do.

Check-Ins: printer and station problems

“This printer has … in it”

The roll in the printer isn’t one Vessel prints on. Put in a 62 mm roll: continuous 62 mm, red and black 62 mm, or 62 × 100 mm labels.

The station won’t sign in or set up

Update Vessel Check-Ins to the newest version first. Some older versions can’t connect to Vessel at all. Then see Check-Ins troubleshooting for the other messages.

Emails that don’t arrive

Before Vessel sends a schedule, set list or availability request, it tells you who won’t get it, for example:

  • people with no email address,
  • people who declined that date,
  • people who were already emailed about that date,
  • people who turned availability emails off,
  • people who are no longer in the church.

When you email a group, Vessel tells you afterwards how many people had no email address.

If someone should have had an email but didn’t:

  1. Ask them to check their spam or junk folder.
  2. Check their email address in People.
  3. If they unsubscribed from Vessel emails in the past, they won’t get that kind of email. Email support@vesselworship.org and we’ll look into it.

Still stuck?

Email support@vesselworship.org. Tell us your church’s name, which app, and what it says on screen.
